Our goal is to build an amiable school, where children, teachers and families feel at home. (Loris Malaguzzi, 1998)
Parents are welcome in the school as partners in the education experience of their children. We believe parents have the right to participate in the life of the school. Because we are all constructors of knowledge, we invite parents to our classrooms to collaborate with the children in project work and research. We organize excursions with our parents to support on-going work of the school. The Swamp Rabbit Trail is adjacent to our campus, so our parents frequently join us for exploration of the trail and encounters with the surrounding community. We work to build relationships with our families and a sense of participation as a school.
We offer frequent dialogue opportunities for our parents: age-level parent nights, speakers on topics related to children and education, question and answer formats with directors, or presentations about work in the school. Parents regularly receive communications from teachers as well as a monthly update from the directors of the school.
Our Parent Council is the parent organization that supports the school with parent involvement and offers many volunteer opportunities.
